Julio R. Lopez Jr. was born in 1960 in Lamesa, Texas. He studied architecture, graphics, and the fine arts at the University of Washington’s School of Art.
Lopez’s work can be currently found in many publications and institutions both in the United States and abroad.
The son of migrant workers, the artist was raised in the fields of the Rio Grande Valley in Texas to the fruit orchards of the Yakima Valley in Washington State.
He works predominantly in the medium of ink, but includes a wide variety of mediums such as graphite, ceramics, photography, fabrics, oils, acrylics, water colors, metals, glass, charcoal, sculpture, etching, and lithography.
His ink illustrations are a landmark in amazing cross-hatch, shading, and contain a beautiful sense of balance and composition.
He currently lives and works in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas.
